A bit of housekeeping

So I know updates have been spotty for a while now, and I never really addressed it, but i think now is a good time to do that. There are a few factors to this and the primary one lately is I’ve been pretty burnt out. I mean, I’ve been doing this since 2008, so I think that’s pretty understandable.

For a while I tried to push the comic as a possible way to earn money for doing someone I love, but that never really panned out, which is fine, but it does mean that the comic takes a back seat to things like uni, and work.

Another factor is I’m going to be moving to Canada later this month, and it could take a while before I’m set up again to work on comics!

I guess the short of what I’m saying is that life is happening, and the current update schedule is now set to “when I can.”

Who knows, maybe I’ll just start updating in chapters, or clusters instead of page by page. I mean the wait’s long enough as it is, right? Might as well make the updates substantial.

We’ll see!

Anyway, as always, if you want to use social media to let you know when updates have happened please feel free to follow me on twitter or facebook and thanks for sticking around all this time!

Life happens, and when ever is fine, though I’d prefer 3 a week! Thanks for sharing your universe here, with us.

It’s been “whenever” for a while now anyway, hasn’t it? This just gives it an official notice. Take your time! It’s a fun story to read, but there’s no rush. (Right….?) Someone will hang around to wait for new pages. I see no need to not see new pages as they come out, so….might as well, right?

Hey, so long as we get to see the story continue in some way, we’re happy. Don’t sweat the update schedule too much.

Absolutely prioritize work/school/your happiness over the comic! I really hope you don’t get completely burnt out on it, though. I can handle the sporadic updates, but my recent re-reading has reminded me how much I love your writing and sense of humor. It was also really cool to see the evolution of your art all at once. Don’t force yourself to keep working on this if it’s really more stressful than anything, we the readers will understand either way. I would be incredibly sad to see this comic go, but you need to do what’s best for you. c:

After you move to Canada you can make a new comic called the Fancy Adventures of Jack Cananda
To which city? Ottawa is a personal favourite but Toronto has more happening

You officially a Canuk yet? Lost another fine artist to Vancouver Island this year, I sure hope the two of you get going again.

Hey, could you start a patreon? No clue if you already have one. But just, been following this for years, I love it. It inspired two NPC’s in my D&D games.

I’d like to regularly donate aside from just paypal if possible.

Thanks so much for wanting to support the comic! I’ll take a look into it!

I found this the other day on TV Tropes and binged all through it in about a day, and it was a hell of a ride. Over ten years, damn. A lot’s changed, including your art. There was a brief period where the art was caught between realistic and cartoony and it was a bit eerie, but you’ve really improved, and it shows. Character designsc expressions, movement, background, it’s all really improved. I’m going to try and leave a sort of “Review” of this comic here.

The first few arcs centered mostly around Jack, Craig, Angel, and Cindy (With Lockwood as well) we’re very great, really caught your attention. I don’t know, there was just something so ridiculous and over the top of Jack and Craig beating the crap out of each other. Jack was kind of a jackass, but in a lovable way, and Craig of course, was terrible, but endearing, where now he’s kind of pathetic (And deserves it, to be honest) while Angel and Cindy were a great supporting cast. I liked them in their first appearances better, as they were more aggressive, outspoken, tomboyish. Cindy had those ripped sleeveless jacket thing and messy hair tied up in a ponytail and an attitude, while Angel had shorter, messier hair, and had this good balance between frustrated, annoyed, unimpressed, and no longer caring about anything. It makes sense that they would change over time, it’s been ten years after all, but Angel is starting to feel a bit like the “Nice love interest” type character. You can do whatever you want, it’s your comic after all, but remember your roots! Jack, Angel, and Cindy all worked very well together when they were loud and witty. One small sacrifice that came with the better art was that there’s less of a more cartoony type setting, so I can’t really imagine something like the first battles with Craig happening again, as the comic is a bit more serious now. But who know, man. I’ll still try to keep up with this, I’m genuinely interested in the plot.

My other final comments: Jack and Angel remind me of Peter and Mary Jane from Spectacular Spider-Man, Jack’s hair in the beginning (Which was was “Cartoony”, larger, and spikier) looked better than it does now (It looks weirdly flat) and of all the characters in the comic, Jeremy Caesar feels the most out of place. I love ALL the other characters, but I don’t know what it is about him, the guy just doesn’t get me going. And if you don’t mind answering, how long do you think this series will be/take to finish?

Anyway, loved this! Keep doing God’s work, son.

Thanks so much for the review! Always nice to hear other peoples thoughts. I’m glad you’re enjoying it!
Poor ol’ Ceasar, I admit he is a little outta place. The idea was to show someone from a totally different branch of the MI, but it hasn’t really been explored like I originally planned in a previous draft. As for how long the comic will take, I honestly couldn’t tell you, time wise. Story wise I’m planning to wrap things up soon, but we still have a bit to go. Sorry if that’s a bit vague, but I hope you continue to enjoy the comic!
