DID YOU KNOW?!

You can actually buy Jack Cannon volume 1 Hardcover books?

No?

YOU CAN!

Initially I worked to make a hard cover version of the book for indy planet a couple of years ago, and the books looked great! Then suddenly the service was put on hold, mush to my sadness.

Anyway, I was looking through indyplanet again recently since I am currently *spoiler* working on the second Jack Cannon Book *spoiler*  and found you can totally get a hardcover copy of The Fancy Adventure of Jack Cannon Volume 1 over here!

So, I mean, it’s like 25 bucks, and I get basically no profit at all from it but if you like hardcover books like I do then please pick it up. The idea that people have the coolest version of my stuff on their shelf is more important to me than making any type of profit off of my work. Probably because I am retarded. But yeah, they are *way* better than the softcover books I have linked in the store (which I will soon be updating) and you could probably use them to fight off an attacker because THEY ARE THE BEST THINGS!

I think it is kind of a jip that you don’t get any profit from that. It is your creation and you deserve your cut.

What do you mean that you get no profit ?!

The way indypalnet (and subsequently, Ka-blam) works is all comics are made on demand. The price of printing the book is added to the purchase price of the book in question and then the author can decide how much profit he/she wants to earn and adds that to the book. That’s great for smaller books, but the page count on Jack Cannon makes the comics price pretty steep already. I recall initially I added like… five bucks, I think, to the cover price and received comments saying I was ripping fans off, and one guy even said he’d just print out the archives and make his own book instead. (haha)
That was only a vocal minority, I know, but I noticed the books weren’t really selling anyway and also I’m pretty sure I was employed at the time I made the books, so I figured I’d rather people be able to afford and own a book even if I wasn’t seeing any kickbacks – it’s not like I was planning to live off any profits anyway.
I do get a tiny trickle of change when books are sold: currently I make S1.80 per soft cover book I sell and $0.20 for the hard cover ones.

The whole thing has been pretty interesting. I’m not sure if I’ll use indy planet for volume 2 or if I’ll look for another print on demand store or what. Ideally I’d like to get a batched printed and then distribute the books myself, however there are two major problems with this:
1.It needs a pretty large investment of cash to start with, which is unavailable to me as a student right now.
2.Postage to outside of Australia is a bitch.

So yeah. Right now the best way to support the comic is clicking on adds, reading it, and telling your friends about it. The books are just a bonus.

Okay thank you for that really awesome reply. I am just so saddened at to what that is how it is !! I just want to say that I hope that you find someplace else that’s better and good luck with it and all. And as for that idiot who said that he’d print out his own copy from the archives well he’s missing out as you have the remaining pages so he misses out don’t he. Any ways what ever happens void luck as we all love this comic and hope that it will all go great !!!!

It’s cool that the negligible profits don’t bother you much. I’m sick to death of stupid capitalists who are only in it for the money. Making something for the sake of making something is so much more enjoyable and sharing it for the sake of sharing it is even more so.

If you need the money to start, may I suggest Pozible? It’s a little like Kickstarter, in that it’s all or nothing crowdfunding, but it’s based in Australia and is available all over the world (instead of just the US and UK).

A motivating discussion is worth comment. I think that
you need to write more about this topic, it might not be a taboo subject but generally people do not discuss such issues.
    To the next! Cheers!!
