NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
October 10th, 2011 at 3:40 pm
Oh Snap, Galvin just crossed the moral event horizon. This cannot end well.
October 10th, 2011 at 4:02 pm
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!
October 10th, 2011 at 4:05 pm
PAIN!! Heroic death? or stuck in the hospital for 1 comic year (forever)?
October 10th, 2011 at 4:22 pm
Why do i have the feeling that Gavin is doing this as a means of blowing off steam for what Grin did? Normally I’d assume that he would kill a person in a more efficiently humane fashion, like just stopping his heart or something. Or he’s just gone completely psycho by now.
October 10th, 2011 at 8:00 pm
he pushed, at most, probably about 4 buttons. Hacking with Kinect™?

@tehbeefer
Macros, man. Every true frequent-doer-of-redundant-tasks person has them.
October 10th, 2011 at 8:46 pm
Then let us dare to hope that Gavin hits the self-destruct macro by accident.

This is not a moral event horizon, people. Please read tv tropes more carefully. Attacking the hero is a given, that’s what villains do. It’s when gavin decides to torture max, or kill crystal, or a puppy. That’s the event horizon.
October 10th, 2011 at 9:52 pm
Noobdude,
This looks very much like Gavin intends to torture Max. like Frostbite 4.0 pointed out, stakes in fleshy parts doesn’t seem much like Gavin’s style. It’s inefficient and crude, and doesn’t match his modis operandi so far.
If Gavin hasn’t cross the moral event horizon, he will soon.
October 10th, 2011 at 10:09 pm
Gavin, Gavin, Gavin… You can’t kill Max Facepuncher with a stake through the heart. You have to cut off his fists!
October 10th, 2011 at 10:30 pm
NO!!! DON’T KILL MAX IN SOME ANTI-CLIMACTIC WAY!!!!!! he deserves some super-special-awesome death, like this one (warning spoilers, also, sorry it’s Japanese w/ Spanish subs): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSQww1GOSy8&feature=fvwrel (i used this example since Max reminds me of Kamina from Gurren Lagann for some weird reason)
October 10th, 2011 at 11:18 pm
Aaaaaaaaaand cue Jack to save Max’s arse 🙂
What would be hi-larious would be if Jack punched Gavin in the face and it worked! And then Max is all “Hey! That’s my thing!!!”
October 11th, 2011 at 3:38 am
I guess everybody here knows Gavin better than Jamie himself, it seems, judging by how they can predict things Gavin will be doing whole storylines from now. :\
October 11th, 2011 at 7:16 am
If Max doesn’t at least get in a few good shots in this fight I’m gonna be pissed.
October 11th, 2011 at 8:24 am
Ho-ley firetruck.
October 11th, 2011 at 9:11 am
Apparently he CAN’T dodge instant murder. Who knew?
Also this is apparently what happens when you fight a skinny pimped out god that can’t be punched in the face.
October 11th, 2011 at 9:14 am
Also, anyone saying Gavin is crossing the MEH right now: to do so would suggest that he was redeemable before. I doubt Jamie ever meant to portray him as sympathetic; he’s a stone cold killer.
October 11th, 2011 at 9:27 am
Wow, you actually took the effort of changing the noise on the screen for each frame! 😀
October 11th, 2011 at 9:43 am
…shit!
October 11th, 2011 at 9:51 am
“I guess everybody here knows Gavin better than Jamie himself, it seems, judging by how they can predict things Gavin will be doing whole storylines from now. :\”
What, did you think Max could actually win? It was made pretty clear in their first meeting that Max never stood a chance.
October 11th, 2011 at 11:28 am
@ noobdude
you are forgetting, max isnt the hero in this story, jack is.
October 11th, 2011 at 12:51 pm
Max is going to win, no worries. Gavin hasn’t realized he’s not a vampire (playing the oblivious card)
October 11th, 2011 at 4:55 pm
@ Ignis: Gavin went through the Moral Event Horizon quite a while ago. Now he’s just Kicking the Dog because he can.
October 12th, 2011 at 12:47 am
… um… ouch?
October 12th, 2011 at 10:46 am
Yup. Max is dead, though it was obvious for a while. Sorry Kamina, some heroes must die so others can hear the call. You never stood a chance.
@Ignis, Noobdude, and Reynard
The MEH (Moral Event Horizon) varies based on the past actions a character has taken. A character who is insofar a okay person tying up a bunch of cats and lighting them on fire would be crossing they would have crossed the MEH, however if they had a history of genocide, you’d accept it as part of his fucked up character. It’s all about the tone of the plot and the character.
In addition, a MEH is symbolically like a true event horizon (the point in a black hole where even light cannot escape) and when a character crosses it, there is no turning back. Nothing they does can ever make up for what they have done. Not even a heroic sacrifice.
Gavin has asked horrible things done of people against people. He would have no problem doing them himself. As this action is not outside of his character, and it certainly isn’t something irredeemable.
October 12th, 2011 at 11:06 am
Oh c’mon guys. You whine when Max doesn’t die a horrible death, and you whine when he does. Nothing pleases you people!
Gavin:2
Max:0

“i knew it would be bad. i did not know it would be this bad.”
October 12th, 2011 at 11:21 pm
I’ve gone through every comic up till this point. Your style and technique has improved greatly. You have earned a lifetime fan…or at least till you decided to end it.
October 13th, 2011 at 6:32 am
You know what really terrifies me? In the last panel he’s snapping his fingers AGAIN. Gavin only knows what he’s about to do next!
