@Alexander: I didn’t recognize Crystal until you pointed her out. I was wondering who she was. I guess she doesn’t stand out as much without that crazy scarf!
Apparently, Christmas is awesome enough for Jack to ignore Max’s violent entrance into his house. Yeah, three girls probably equals the best Christmas he’s even had. Too bad for him this isn’t canon . . . right? (But it is “Cannon.” Gonna stop that potential joke right here.)
I’ve been enjoying the comic so far. I’m not sure what I think of the last scene just yet. Maybe I don’t find Angel’s position completely believable (and her attempt to pin it all on Cindy was just kind of mean), but on the other hand, I’m glad to see that they haven’t abandoned Jack just yet. It wouldn’t be interesting without them. Still, whether or not Angel thinks that her attitude towards Jack wasn’t “fair,” it doesn’t change the fact that Jack is still a dangerous guy to be around.
At least Jack made the right decision to stay friends with two good looking girls. He’d be a total fool, otherwise. Although, now that I think about it . . . Cindy has been injured twice in Jack’s presence. Max punched her, and Jack slammed the door on her foot. I think Angel has gotten off relatively easy, if my recollection is correct. Cindy probably has less incentive to be nice to Jack.
Anyway, despite my reservations on the presentation, I am still pleased with recent developments. I also think that the characters are as expressive as ever. I’m not completely sure, I felt like you were experimenting a bit with “camera” angles in this last sequence, but I’m terribly lazy and don’t feel like reviewing the entire comment plus all of your previous work, so I cannot be certain. Point being: In a few frames, the character’s looked a little “squashed,” but their emotes still came across clearly, so I’d call that a victory.
Well, I should wrap up my rambling. Looking forward to what comes next. I’m still most curious to see how Angel and Cindy fit into things as the adventure continues because neither seem to have any special abilities at this time. Will they be able to do anything beyond improving Jack’s morale? Will they learn to hack, or get magical items of clothing, like Crystal seems to have? I’m not terribly well-versed in comic lore, but I cannot think of a ton of non-supers in super hero tales that have major parts. Mary Jane is the first character I can think of, and she’s technically in the supporting role, so far as I can tell. So, yeah, it seems like that, unless something drastic happens, Ang and Cin have only two roles to play: Be there for Jack, or get abducted. Or maybe there’s a third option I’m missing. I’ll see, of course. 🙂
