Lets talk games!

Guys It’s been ages since I posted anything so I’m going to talk to you about video games I suppose! Okay, here we go!

SO! I totally started playing Metal Gear Solid 4 on Saturday and had it won by Sunday. Truth be told I really enjoyed it, I just wish there was more game to play. I guess I will track down a copy of Metal Gear Solid 3, now.

I also FINALLY played Eternal Sonata to completion last night. The game is really beautiful, visually, and the combat is pretty fun, but crapdamn if the story isn’t just balls. The ending was ridiculous, with all the characters gathering around a black background and encouraging me, telling me to go live my life and I still have time. YEAH GREAT THANKS GUYS GIVE ME MY TWENTY HOURS BACK!

Also on the RPG front I can not for the life of me get into Infinite Undiscovery.

I went back the other day and played some Final Fantasy VII with a friend who brought it off PSN. You know what I don’t like about modern RPGs?

Voice overs.

They limit me in more ways than one. For instance, I bet if square ever remade FFVII everyone would be voiced and because of that I would not be able to rename Red XIII to “Batman.”

Being able to rename all the party members was one of my greatest joys in JRPGS, But now days the closest I get is renaming the silent protagonist in the Persona series who hardly ever gets mentioned by name.At least you can turn the voices off in Persona. Everyone sounds cooler in my head.

I also imported myself a copy of Blazblue. Pretty fighting game. I love it.

Umm, yes.

Have a good weekend everyone!

Katamari for ps3 demo comes out tommorrow. I kinda see the king of the cosmos being voiced by you. Also Phoniex Wright I’d think youd do an awesome voice for.

    Hell. Yes.

Have you played the rest of the MGS series? You really can’t grasp how amazing MGS4 is, and how gripping the story gets without playing and comprehending the first 6 games (In chronological order by game timeline: MGS3, MG: PO, MG, MG2, MGS, MGS2, MGS4). There is WAY more than enough to do on MGS4 than you think, so many things to accomplish, so amny ways to play through the game, so much to do. It’s Hideo Kojima;s crowning achievement, and with the close of the MGS series, I hope that there’s more in store from Konami in the future that can come even CLOSE to the amounts of WIN in MGS.

Hey MGSFan, I’m afraid I’m playing through the games in completely the WRONG order. I played MGS on the PS1 (therefore bypassing like what, two, three metal gear games by already.) then I TRIED to play metal gear sold 2 just before I got metal gear solid 4 but was districted by newer games and by the fact it was an xbox 1 game and looked SO BAD on my hi-def set up that I literally could not tell what was going on. (it’s not the games fault, mind you.)
I actually got the PC version of MGS2 in hopes I could up the res (I had done this years ago with the original MGS and was happy with the results (I played through the game like five times and NEVER gave in to the torture. Screw you, ocelot! Stealth camo is not worth your satisfaction!) but sadly vista refused to run it. :'(
I just actually got MGS3 after completely giving up on finding a PAL version of MGS3 Substance. So I’m trying to play through that bit by bit now, but the controls are very tough for me to adjust to. I’m trying though.
Also, I’m totally aware just how DEEP the actual missions in MGS4 are, and am totally impressed by it. I just can’t help but wish there were MORE missions, you know? Personally I think that’s more a compliment to the game than a nitpick.
Also, sadly, the PSP is one of the few consoles I do not own, so I never have played any of the portable MGS games.
Though, damn, have you seen the new Peacewalker trailer? If I can convince a friend or two to make the plunge with me I may have to get a PSP just for that game. And Persona.

Well then, I stand corrected. Sorry for sounding like such an ass, it was really late. I didn’t know MGS2 came out for XBOX1, you should play it for the PS2, much better. Raiden loks so sparkly girly that it’s ridiculous. I kind of wish there was a bit more to the game myself, but alas, I invested money into MGS4 for hte story more than the game; although the game itself was ASTONISHINGLY AWESOME. The original metal gears were for the older consoles such as the NES (Metal Gear) and NeoGeo I believe for Metal Gear 2. Plus, like I said, it’s hard to follow the story after only playing a couple of the Metal Gears and diving straight into MGS4. Even before playing MGS4 I had to go back and play through about 120 hours of games in the series to refresh my memory with the storyline.

I play a ton of games. Major nerd here. 😛
Though havn’t play any MGS games.

  7. Jackrabbit

You beat MGS4 in a day?

Did you skip all the cutscenes?

  8. Jamie

No, I skipped sleep! I was that hooked. The game itself wasn’t that hard, I’ll boot it up sometime and see if it keeps track of how many hours it took me to finish.

  9. Jackrabbit

I’d quite like to play it, but I’ve heard horror stories about the cutscene lengths.

Ah sod it, as if that even matters, it looks like a lot of fun.

  10. Jamie

The cutscenes are, yes, pretty long. think the game is best played when you have time to spare, and when you’re in the right mindset to just sit back and watch MGS4 as well as play it.
