    I really like the drawings of Gavin in this one. How he’s up against the static and that little glow edge. Noice stuff, now more punching!

    Gavin reminds me of the Joker. The two are completely opposite: the Joker only wants chaos and has a monumental amount of emotion behind his actions while Gavin wants complete order and nothing but occasional, simulated emotion. Yet both of them are terrifying and formidable villains. Impressive.

    anyone notice that Gavin’s shirt is untucked? That surprised me, I pictured him as being suave, not “post-workday”

  4. Jamie

    (Gavin isn’t wearing a shirt.)

  5. Ben

    I keep getting this odd idea that Gavin is Jack’s missing brother, Either that or he’s responsible for the missing bit.

  6. Blandalf

    Man, Gavin looks super-creepy in panel 2.

  7. Cory

    Ben, I had the same thought when I read that last line. Leaning towards the first idea though.

    In regards to the shirt I can’t wait until we learn whether he wears a spandex or rubber suit, or whether he’s actually altered his body or flesh to such a form or appearance. He’s basically Anon incarnate. He’s removed any physical features beyond the symbol that he is. I suspect anonymity is a mere facet of the larger picture, but I don’t know what to make of the rest of it. He’s simplified his facial expression. It seems much like an avatar where it’s the face one wears to represent himself, but it’s not actually capable of any expression. I suspect even his tone were we to hear it is expressionless, and he relies exclusively on his words to convey his point.

    Perhaps he considers himself the moderator? It’s not his place to decide what the members do, merely to enforce the rules and make sure everything happens cohesively. He seems to give his followers a pretty strong amount of free reign. We haven’t seen him organize any crimes so much as get everyone together to tackle a couple threats to the hackers. When Grin refused to perform the transformation hack again he conceded without complaint. His only concern was that the transformed kid serve his sentence in full before being changed back. Basically the kid got the banhammer and has to wait before he can post again.

    @ gangler

    Woah woah woah! The only part of Gavin that is remotely close to Anon it the fact that he has no identity (thus far.)
    Gaving is much to Calm, sophisticated, focused, etc. to be Anon incarnate.
    You can’t just fling around the name “anon” so casually.
    Were Gavin real I’m sure he would take offense to that.

    @This guy. Yeah, probably could have found a better term. I really meant more as in the base concept rather than the stigma it has in certain area’s or the more insulting contexts of the word.

    This being said he does show certain aspects of that as well. Notice his callous unfeeling nature. His morbid fascination with the darker and more destructive nature of humans (note his children with Nukes comment). His lack of respect for things like human life, while simultaneously displaying a full and proper understanding of the human values he lacks (has no qualm killing Crystal, but understands perfectly how her family relations effects the situation). His dedication to bypassing government and law despite a clear reason to do so is reminiscent of piracy based communities (we can do so, thus we are entitled to). He has an absolute confidence in the older generation’s powerlessness before the younger, more tech savvy generation. He has a strong faith in the collective mind, the basic concept that Anon represents.

    No he’s not a cackling troll, but that’s a minor connotation attached to a much larger concept. A concept reminiscent of the hive mind, representative of a new kind of community with new capabilities and new values. Despite his not being a representation of the stigma’s attached to these communities, he does seem to represent the values.

    If anything Craig could be said to the resident troll. Everything is based around getting a reaction for him. His attitudes are all uninformed and offensive. He has an absolute surety in his own correctness despite every evidence to the contrary. Spends an inordinate amount of time talking about his own perceived awesomeness. Shows an enormously undeveloped ability to interact with females. Needlessly confrontational. If we’re looking for a troll it’s Craig.

    @gangler

    That was very articulately put – a damned good thesis statement, almost. I approve of your theories.

  13. Phil Breazy

    @This Guy

    Anon is a concept. Gavin is the embodiment of it; the will to do what you feel without being tied down by the rules that come when you have an identity. You’re just afraid of the term because of how it’s most often used.

    I agree that Gavin is the embodiment of Anon.

  14. Nanoth

    If anything, what Gangler said. This is my whole feeling on Gavin. But the problem is he is one of those mods who instead of helping people, he would rather call those people a Noob, point them to a Wiki and or Ban someone for even Saying that the Sky is blue, when just a moment a go the Mod said its Brown…

  15. kloudykat

    Miles er, Gavin just made a reference to family being…complicated. How….tidy.

  16. Shawwah?! Man

    @gangler

    Okay, honestly I DID read it, but I’ll say it anyway.

    DIDN’T READ LOL.
