I have mixed feelings about this whole sequence, actually. good thing it’s only five comics long.
Also: Spambots are driving me INSANE. It’s like, no matter how careful I am with sifting through the crap that makes its way on to the site and keeping actual real comments I always miss something and unapprove someones comment! Then, I have to go find that and reapprove it and ugh. I’m beginning to think I will have to make comments not show up until I approve them but then I’d still have to sift through spambot jibbajabba bullshit. But anyway;
New Vote Incentive! Today we have a pencils from the page that became the first page of Jack Cannon. The early pages are cool cause I wrote the first draft of the script down as well when I was drawing it, so you can see what stuff has been changed or tweaked. Well, I think it sounds fun.
Please Vote!

You might have mixed feeling on the sequence, but I have to tell you that this page looks fantastic.
December 7th, 2009 at 3:25 pm
Gotta say, the girls look great.
December 7th, 2009 at 4:08 pm
Haha. BOOM!
Because he’s Jack Cannon. Sequence looks awesome.
December 7th, 2009 at 4:19 pm
I use WordPress with ComicPress for my webomic too, and the Akismet plugin for it has caught all the spam I’ve received so far…
Jack’s last expression made me sad.
December 7th, 2009 at 5:15 pm
The girls look great, why the heck is Jack MAD to see them??
December 7th, 2009 at 6:05 pm
A sleeveless turtle neck shirt?!
I don’t know whether to be amazed or disgusted…
December 7th, 2009 at 6:54 pm
I think you should of added “The following day” or “later that evening” or something to keep a time flow or letting the reader know whether a day, or a week passed by depending on how bad Jack’s wounds were.
It’s a minor thing, maybe Jack’s a fast healer.
Nice outfits. Jack might want to hold back from any remarks or he’s gonna get knives in his back.
December 7th, 2009 at 8:34 pm
well, he looks happy to see them
December 7th, 2009 at 10:32 pm
Jack is, after thinking about it, glaring at this tableau of loveliness? There’s no pleasing some people. Mind you, Cindy looks like she’s only there because Angel has talked her into it, and she’s having second thoughts. The artwork is really coming along.

Hot.
December 8th, 2009 at 1:55 am
What, is he annoyed they didn’t bring pizza or something?
December 8th, 2009 at 6:17 am
He’s annoyed because they said they didn’t want to be near him, then he gets his ass handed to him and all of the sudden they care. 2+2=4 they PITY him.
December 8th, 2009 at 6:47 am
Hooray for sleeveless turtlenecks!
December 8th, 2009 at 8:23 am
It’s awesome, but why is he so angry?
December 8th, 2009 at 10:00 am
wow. you actually drew him three times. Most people would just draw his face 3 times and just duplicate the his lower half through photoshop or something.
I like that in the first jack has a relaxed body and the third jack’s body is tense signifying anger.
what are you using for your clothing designs? Is it original or are you using a clothing store catalog as a reference?
December 8th, 2009 at 10:21 am
I would be pretty angry too if they shunned me and started talking to me after something happed like me almost dying. I would think they feel sorry for me and not everyone wants people to feel sorry for them. I know I dont.

@Alectric: OH man, thanks so much for mentioning that to me. I set the plugin up and damn I wish I had taken a closer look at it ages ago. This really helps me out 😀
@SomeUnregPunk: I’m pretty much just making up outfits as I go. Catalog references have crossed my mind, but there’s never one in the house when you need one.
December 9th, 2009 at 5:12 am
I don’t even think I could fake being angry with those two at my front door. 😛

I would recommend you try and convert to Webcomic & Inkblot, because Webcomic works a lot better than Comicpress, at least I’ve heard. I like Webcomic a lot, as I use it for my website kirizakicomics.com. It supports multiple comics, though that’s not as much of an interest to you, but it’s also much easier to manage and the Inkblot theme is highly customizable.

Gotta admit, TvTropes got it right (again).

Great page 🙂 I meant to comment earlier, but this is my finals week.
December 10th, 2009 at 4:51 am
maybe he is mad because it has been long enough for him to heal, say, a week, and they haven’t visited in the interim.
Either that, or what Mikey8152 said…
December 10th, 2009 at 7:22 pm
I have wanted to say this for a long time. I absolutely love how well you can make expressions come alive. Your characters look as if they could jump off the page and be someone. I barely ever see that, even on TV. >.>; heck, i barely see it in real life.
December 11th, 2009 at 3:29 am
Oh wow, thanks! 😀
December 11th, 2009 at 4:27 am
Hiya!
XD .Bet you’re sick enough off the adoring comments by now, but seriously- you’re one damn funky guy! I’ve seen a couple of sites where the author, illustrator etc. is too stuck up to acknowledge his viewers- but you comment. Showing some soul.
Secondly, I love your art. I know it’s an old one, but I honestly do. Especially Jack’s face as he opened the door. Also, I am an aspiring artist myself. Note the aspiring- not good enough yet- but I understand the fun-ness of drawing girls. Boys are rather square to me, girls are curvy and flowy and better friends with my pencil.
Finally, I have a secret for all your typing spelling mistakes- Google Chrome! It has a built in spell checker, but for some reason, it doesn’t recognise it’s own name….
Last but not least… how can they mistake us Brits and Aussies? We are very different, are we not? (The rugby is proof! :P)
Thank you for you’re continuing dedication to the comic!!
December 13th, 2009 at 3:00 am
@Briggsy haha, I’m totally nowhere near sick of people telling me they like my work; it’s one of the most rewarding things ever! I am, though, kinda at a loss how to reply to a lot of them other than ‘thanks’ though. 😉
But yeah, seriously, mistaking Brits for Aussies should be a crime! Though I have seen a few shows where people try to imitate.. one of the accents and I have *no idea* who they’re trying to be. I blame poor research.

So he’s ticked off at them over something that happens in hundreds of heroic dramas throughout history, where the girls fawn all over the fallen hero they once spurned? I don’t think it’s pity — any of the other guys in the classroom would have been Frankie-chow in a microsecond. Jack fought him, drew him away from the others, got pounded to custard, and survived until backup arrived. The girls have no way of knowing that Jack wasn’t working with Max and Crystal, and didn’t call them in to help somehow when he needed them. So, from an outside observer’s point of view, it looked like he *heroically saved the class* from a monster, personally taking massive, life-threatening damage in the process, and summoning aid when he saw he wouldn’t be able to handle it alone. Bravery, fortitude, AND humility — that’s not something to pity. It’s something to sigh over and draw hearts on your notebook over.
Try looking at it without from the girls’ point of view instead of Jack’s. I think Jack is being *self-pitying*, and projecting it on the girls where it doesn’t exist.
