She laughs, but how does she know they are mere generic chapter books? For all, as well as we, know he could have read 5 giant encyclopedias cover to cover… like an old friend who learned C++ by reading five giant books on the subject.

Not necessarily. Here in the States, we’re currently about to vote for a President. We have a *HUGE* bloc of voters who read a book, The Bible (you may have heard of it); and because they choose to read it a certain way, they believe things like:
The Earth is only 6000 years old and Dinosaurs and Man co-existed.
Women can stop pregnancies if they’re sexually assaulted.
The U.N. is The Most Powerful Organization In The World and leads the One World Government.
They are being constantly persecuted and will be forced to fund abortions and their pastors will be forced to perform ceremonies for same-sex marriages.
When, in fact, *NONE OF THIS IS ACTUALLY TRUE!!!*
And those examples don’t even *begin* to scratch the surface of how The Bible can make people say and do stupid things.
So, no; not *all* books make you smarter.
