well either max put jack in to a coma for so long the horrific damage healed or something else went wrong and I’ve got to say that is a fantastic expression in the last panel

Maybe the direct hack actually worked on him and he passed out, and everything since has been a dream?

Despite the hackers being unable to hack jack, he was still in a pretty big physical confrontation with a fair amount of emotional jacking around (not that he’d admit that bit right? π
The nose bleed was a good warning sign that he was about to taste the repercussions. Why all the ‘just a dream’ hypotheses?

Because it would be a really, really cruel thing to do to us, and there are plenty of authors who enjoy their readers’ pain?
But really, I loathe cliffhangers. I can’t wait for Monday to find out what happened, dammit!

I think of three things:
1. Max punched him
2. A “deal” with hackers is a way for them to deliver a hack of sorts…
3. He isn’t as hackproof as he thought, the hack just acted more slowly (and less effectively) on him… but still enough to send him into a coma.

I agree with the “delayed Mind-hack.” Max has better control than that (if he didn’t, Crystal’s ol’ Granddad would have passed this world by now). =P

I think that Jack was created to destroy hackers, and by making a deal with them triggered some kind of built in security thing that causes him to pass out.

Crazy theories aside, Jack stared down Gavin and negotiated a truce. Gavin, Mister “I’m in your reality, hacking your everything.” (lolcat speak removed by court order) We admire your awesome, Jack Cannon.
Oh, and crazy theory time: What if Gavin decided to ignore the truce, and planted a subtle (since direct hacks don’t work properly) hack to change the air around Jack into something dangerous? For someone of Gavin’s skill, this isn’t outside the realm of possibility, and would be a sneaky way around Jack’s protection. Like the Iron Maiden Max was put in.
Actually, why didn’t Gavin do that? Capture them both, spirit them away somewhere, and do experiments on them.
